Quite a few people have asked how to upload/change their avatar picture.

The current settings on the forum mean you can only use pictures of a certain resolution for your avatar (around 640x480 which you can tell by right clicking on the picture you wish to use and choosing 'Properties').  There are several ways to do this dependant on what Operating System your computer is running.

I'm presuming you don't have a graphics package installed, because if you know how to use a graphics package you will know how to resize an image anyway. . .

Windows XP can use a bit of free software from Microsoft called 'Image Resizer' which is available from here
Vista can use a bit of free software called VSO Image Resizer which is available from here

If you have software older than XP you should probably visit your local museum and they take your PC off your hands.

Install the applicable software.

If you resize the image (right click on the file and choosing resize) to around 640x480 (the ones Fred takes for the website gallery are just over this but work fine).

Then, after logging onto the forum click this

Then click on Forum Profile Information under Modify Profile
Then click on I will upload my own picture
Then click on Browse
This will open a new 'Explorer' window which you can use to navigate to where you have your recently resized picture located
When you have chosen your picture click Open
Then click on Change Profile at the bottom of the page.

If you want to use one of Fred's pictures of your car from a previous event then just open the picture you want from the gallery on the website, right click on it when it is open to full size and click save picture.  Save it to your My Pictures folder then just folllow the process above.

Let me know if this doesn't work, but it should.  Wink
